Smiles for Life Brilliant Minds has developed a friendship with a local dental practice, Emerald Coast Dentistry. The practice belongs to an organization called The Crown Council, which over the last 11 years has raised over $25 million for children’s charities. March thru June, Emerald Coast Dentistry participates in an innovative “Smile Whitening Donation Program” called Smiles for Life. The dental practice donates its time, Discus Dental donates the whitening materials, your smile gets professionally whitened at a deeply discounted fee (donation), and seriously ill, disabled and underprivileged children get 100% of the money! This year, Emerald Coast Dentistry has named us as the local designated charity to received $.50 of every dollar donated during the campaign. The other $.50 supports children’s causes including humanitarian expeditions where dental care is provided to the poorest of the poor. Please call for an appointment: Emerald Coast Dentistry The Sentinels of Freedom Motorcycle Club held their 3rd Annual Poker Run on Sept. 16th for the Brilliant Minds of Destin. The Sentinels are a group of riders combined of active duty military from Hurlburt Field. They not only serve our county, but they host many rides for local charities. Brilliant Minds is a non profit organization whose mission is to devise and implement individualized, multidisciplinary, medical, evidence-based behavioral treatments and educational resources for children diagnosed with Autism, ADHA, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. They have two locations, one in Destin FL., and one in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. It turned out to be an excellent day with 97 riders from all over the Gulf Coast. The ride started at Cocodries in Navarre to ride 105 miles. They all met back at Cocodries for a fish fry, all you could eat. There were door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, last and largest club showing. The SOF raised $1500.00 for the Brilliant Minds School which is much needed to provide every day needs to help “their” children. As very special young lady, “Nicole” was present. She had a hard time deciding which motorcycle to have her picture taken on, but as you can see, she is a “ham” for the camera. Thanks goes out to Cocodries
